Today, we hosted our "Cake Off" Macamillab Coffee Morning and our Head Office staff members brought in their home bakes to sell, in hope of raising money for the brilliant Macmillan charity.

There was an amazing selection of cakes, macaroons and vegan/gluten free brownies and we crowned Lauren, in payroll, our "Star Baker" for her adorable and incredibly tasty carrot cupcakes!

We managed to raise a FANTASTIC £193.13 for Macmillan Cancer Support and would like to thank everybody who popped in and brought a slice!

What was on our menu..?

As today is the 1st of September, we have entered the National Blood Cancer Awareness Month.

Blood cancer is a term that's used to describe many different types of cancers which affect the blood, bone marrow or lymphatic system. There are three main types of blood cancer:

* leukaemia
* lymphoma
* myeloma

Within these main groups, there are many different types of conditions.

Most blood cancers start in the bone marrow, where blood is made. The affected blood cells stop developing in the normal way and become cancerous. This leads to you having either too many or not enough of the affected type of blood cell. These abnormal blood cells, or cancerous cells, stop your blood doing what it normally does, such as fighting off infections.

Blood Cancer Awareness Month is supported by some of the UK's biggest blood cancer charities throughout September. This is the month to raise awareness of how to improve treatments for blood cancer and increase the number of lives saved!

One of our Client Relations Managers, John Augustus, will be taking part in an enormous 56 mile cycle ride from Bristol to Weston-super-Mare!

John will be doing this amazing cycling route to raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK. This is a great cause and will be thinking of John when he takes part on Sunday, 17th July 2016.

Here are some of the reasons John is supporting Prostate Cancer UK:

* Around 44,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer over the next 12 months, and unfortunately research predicts a 30% increase in the annual number over the next 10 years, rising to 59,000 diagnosed men by 2026

* Currently over 330,000 men are living with, and after, a diagnosis of prostate cancer

* In 2016, one man an hour dies from prostate cancer. That's a shocking 10,900 men just this year

* Prostate Cancer is currently the most common form of cancer in men, accounting for 25% of all cancer diagnoses and affecting 1 in 8 men.
