This week is Learning at Work Week 2016.

Learning at Work Week is an annual awareness campaign organised by the Campaign for Learning since 1999. The week aims to put the spotlight on the importance and benefits of learning and development, and promotes an inclusive approach supporting the extension of opportunities to learn.

Here at Solo Support Services, we like to encourage everybody to take part and increase their knowledge, understanding and productivity. Ultimately resulting in enjoyment in the work that we do and providing an even better service to our clients and employees.

Will you be learning anything at work this week? This is what we're learning:

Debbie Russell, Client Relations Manager

Debbie will be refreshing her Health & Safety course and Safer Handling of Medicines.

Helen Brown, Administrations manager

Taking an update course in Employment Law.

Ingrid, Lauren, Sarah and Ann in our Finance Department

Our Payroll and Accounting staff in the Finance Department will be taking courses in Payroll & Auto Enrolment training, Pensions Regulator and HMRC's Basic PAYE Tools.

9 May 2016

Our Operations Manager, Emily Dennett, will be taking part in a 13.1 mile half marathon extreme assault course, Tough Mudder!

Emily will be doing this intense course to raise money for the John Eastwood Hospice in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. This particular charity is very close to her heart and relies entirely on fundraising and donations to support patients with advanced cancer and other conditions requiring specialist palliative care, such as Motor Neurone Disease.

This is a great cause and we will be thinking of Emily when she takes part on the Sunay, 22nd May 2016.

For more information on what Tough Mudder entails, or on the John Eastwood Hospice, please see the links below. Or if you wish to donate and help raise money for the hospice, there is also a link to Emily's Just Giving page.

Solo Support Services has recently had their Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

The CQC rate inspected organisations as either; Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement or Inadequate.

As part of their inspection they follow five key lines of enquiry, looking to see if the services are; Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Lead. Then they will issue and Overall rating. The findings of the recent inspection are as follows:

  • Is the service SAFE? = Good
  • Is the service EFFECTIVE? = Good
  • Is the service CARING? = Good
  • Is the service RESPONSIVE? = Good
  • Is the service WELL-LEAD? = Good
  • OVERALL = Good

This is the first time that Solo Support Services have been inspected under this new rating system and we are happy with the ratings given.

Please see below for more information.
