It is with great sadness that we tell you of the death of our founder and Company Director, Nicola Kirk née Darby, after a long battle with cancer. At the age of 41 this is a life cut short in its prime but she leaves a lasting legacy in the company she founded, Solo Support Services.

The company continues under the direction of Nicola's husband, Stephen Kirk, her parents Mary and Tony Darby and her nephew Max Kirk. The Directors and Staff of this family business pledge that they will uphold Nicola's vision and her passionately held views in developing and growing the company.

The Directors wish to recognise the work and commitment of the strong team which Nicola created and who continue to offer you the highest possible service. If you have any worries or concrens please don't hesitate to speak with your Client Relations Manager - Debbie Saunders, Steph Willbye, Debbie Russell and Emma Thurston or to the Administrations Manager, Helen Brown or Operations Manager, Emily Dennett.

Please be assured of our very best service at all times.

 Yours sincerely

On the 1st October 2014, everyone in the country was given the right to a Personal Health Budget if they have complex health needs.

Since the 1st April 2014, those who have complex health needs and are eligible for continuing health care have had a 'right to ask' for their care to be delivered through a Personal Health Budget (PHB). But this has now been strengthened to a 'right to have' from October 1st.

This means that children or adults who need continuing health care now have more control and flexibility in how their care is delivered to provide a better quality of life. Between 2009 and 2012 personal health budgets were piloted at sites across England, and the evaluation demonstrated many positive outcomes for patients.

"Having a personal health budget enables people to take control of their NHS budget in a number of different ways. It enables people to actively shape their future and to work with people they trust to deliver their support or buy the equipment they need exactly when they need it." - People Hub

We are working with Clinical Commissioning Groups across the UK to help roll out this opportunity to people, if you would like to talk to somebody further on this subject please do no hesitate to contact us on 0115 815 7010 or via email: info@solosupportservices.co.uk

Much to our delight, Nicola was presented with the final award of the night, the Editor's Award.
