This month we are celebrating Disability Pride Month!
Did you know 1 in 5 people in the UK live with a disability?
The Disability Pride Flag was designed by Ann Magill in 2019. The colours of the Flag are designed to represent the different types of disabilities in our community:
Red - Physical Disabilities
Gold - Neurodivergence
White - Invisible and undiagnosed disabilities
Blue - Mental Illnesses
Green - Sensory Disabilities
The coloured stripes are placed diagonally to represent how disabled people have to cut across barrier in society.
Events are now held locally across the country throughout July as a chance for people with disabilities to celebrate being themselves.
We encourage you to take this opportunity to raise awareness of disabilities, and celebrate the diversity of the disabled community.
