March Review 🌱 ☘ 💐

It has been another very busy month at Solo both in and out of the office. This month has involved lots of training for our HQ staff; our business manager Helen, and Client Relations Manager Emma Thurston attended Safeguarding Referrer Training provided by Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Board. Safeguarding is about the safety and well-being of everyone but ensuring we provide additional measures for those who are least able to protect themselves from harm or abuse.

As well as Safeguarding training, Helen also attended a Nelsons Seminar to keep abreast of our responsibilities with regards to Brexit, and attended Gateleys seminar focusing on employment law updates, along with our Operation Manager Emily. All CRMs undertook two days of HR Training – provided by Loates HR, to build confidence in dealing with more complex HR issues. Emily also led a meeting mapping out our process for setting up our new DPSS clients, this gave people from different departments a general overview of the process we go through to set up our new clients.

On the 26th March our Head Office staff joined people in countries all around the world to show solidarity and support those who have Epilepsy, by wearing purple.

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological condition in the world, with 50 Million people having the condition worldwide, equating roughly to 1 in every 100 people.

Our Client Relations Manager, Roisin, attended the annual ‘Careers Education Information Advice & Guidance Fair’, hosted by Sir Tom Finney Community High School in Preston, on the 28th March. Roisin went to represent Solo and was on hand to answer questions about Personal Health Budgets, Direct Payments and support provision.

“It was enjoyable to speak to so many young people and their families who are thinking about their future and sharing information of what Solo offers. I was made to feel extremely welcome and the young people from the school sat and chatted with me and discussed what was important to them.

Thank you to Sir Tom Finney School and their Head teacher for the invite and welcoming atmosphere.” - Roisin, Client Relations Manager.

Senior Management Team are all very busy with Team meeting preparation in advance of our Team Meeting 2nd April, we will let you know how we get on in April’s review!

New Business with New Funding Streams

Integrated services between Health and Social Care

Debbie Saunders, our Development Manager, has had another very busy month; we have allowed 2 packages of care to continue for 2 different clients. What this means is that the same carers that they know and trust will continue to support them due to our quick turn around and action in taking the packages over from their current agencies, by acting as the Employer of their chosen PA’s. One agency had a very bad CQC inspection, and were deemed not safe due to no evidence of safe services, and the other package’s agency served notice on them, as they want to move away from domiciliary care. One package is joint funded between Health (Sect 117) and Social Care (ISF)the other is health funded. (CHC)

As a result of Debbie’s hard work these have been turned around in 3 weeks.

Thanks to the whole team, head office and care staff, for their hard work during another busy month!
