Hard to believe I know but the month has flown by. Here are some of the highlights from a busy November at Solo:
Our amazing employees from Market Rasen in Lincolnshire attended the Great British Care Awards – East Midlands earlier this month as they were nominated in the Homecare section. Sadly, they didn’t win the award on the night but the whole team are winners in our eyes and the eyes of our client and their family. The positive impact they have had on our client’s life has been immeasurable and everyone at Solo congratulates you on your nomination and getting the recognition you deserve.
We have continued to review and develop our Company Values further, following on from the discussions and suggestions started at our Team Meeting in October. We’re hoping to finalise these very soon and feel they’re even more suited to describe our ethos and working practices to both existing and potential clients.
Our Client Relations Manager Michelle has reviewed our Medication Policy in her new role as Medication Lead. The policy has been rewritten in conjunction with CQC standards and promotes the safety and well-being of clients, as well as providing safeguards for employees. Thank you to Michelle for all your hard work on this subject.
Our Client Relations Manager Roisin led another round of training sessions on Dignity. Roisin is a Dignity Champion for the Dignity Foundation and the sessions are a valuable way to keep the topic at the forefront of all employees’ minds, even for team members who don’t deal with clients face to face.
Our Development Manager Debbie has travelled the length and breadth of the country this month, promoting our business to new and current contacts within CCGs and Social Services. Debbie spoke at an exciting event for Bolton Health and Social Care employees to raise the profile of our business in the further North West.
Congratulations to Ben and Samantha in our Head Office team who both reached a years’ service at Solo this month. We’re glad to say they’re still smiling too! Thank you to Samantha for the celebratory cakes!
We are busy preparing for Christmas – read more about our charitable work here: and keep checking our website and Facebook pages for updates during December. If you are a client and your payroll date falls during our Christmas closure, we will be in touch to advise when your payroll will be processed and paid. Please do call the payroll team with any questions on 0115 815 7010
We’ve had more lovely feedback this month too – here is one example following a successful client interview: on the delegates departure, she told me “she has never had an interview for care where the client has been involved in the interview process” and “how nice this was to experience”.
And finally: Time to get creative – Solo are running a ‘Dignity Poem’ competition to mark Dignity in Action Day on 1st February 2019. The poem should show what Dignity means to you and can be in any style or medium. Entries are welcome from people throughout the Solo Support Services organisation, clients, families & employees. The shortlisted poems will be published on our website and the Dignity Councils website and there will be prizes for the top 5 entries!
The closing date for the competition is Friday 25th January 2019. Entries can be sent via post or email: Solo Support Services, 20 Central Avenue, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 5GR or office@solosupportservices.co.uk Please include your name and telephone number, please also state whether you would like to be identified by name or remain anonymous.
Thank you for reading.
