Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
Started in 2003 by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to promote safe and healthy work, this year’s theme highlights the impact of digitalisation and AI on the wellbeing of workers. It recognises the benefits that these advancements can bring while recognising the need to adapt strategies to ensure a safe and healthy working environment, such as:
Making sure that workers receive appropriate training on how to use new technologies
Updating health and safety regulations addressing the unique risk that new technologies can potentially pose
Prioritising employee mental health by offering support programs, regular check-ins, and resources to help manage stress, anxiety, and burnout
Providing ergonomic solutions to workers using new technologies
Protecting employee personal and health data from cyber threats
