Care Assistant (Part-Time)

I am a teenage boy with complex health needs, living at home with my family and 3 friendly dogs. I am a socially energetic young boy who loves being involved in activities, which includes playing with my tambourine and spending time outside in the garden. As I am registered blind and have a hearing impairment, I need support at all times to keep me safe. I rely on my wheelchair and other equipment to support me mobilise in my home environment and community.
We are currently recruiting for a Personal Assistant can support with day-to-day living, including supporting with all aspects of personal care and clinical tasks. The ideal candidate will be energetic and fit to keep up with me and my activities. You will need to be part of my team, taking the lead from my Mum. You need to be flexible and be able to support me during the day and night, helping me to develop to reach my milestones even though I may take slightly longer to get to them. I need you to be calm, devoted, and able to think on your feet.
Experience of working with children would be advantageous. Full training will be provided to meet my complex health needs; however, it would be beneficial to have experience of Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG). An excellent training package is available to ensure you are trained to the highest standards. Working as part of the Solo Support Services organisation will also give you access to a supportive company who promote person centred practice.
We are looking for someone who can support the team with covering the following shifts –
Monday – 5pm-8pm
Tuesday 5pm-8pm
Alternative weekend:
Saturday 9pm – 9am
Sunday 9pm – 9am
We also require bank staff who are flexible to help cover regular school holidays/ annual leave
The rates of pay are as follows £12.00 per hour for day hours (between 8am-7pm), £13.11 per hour for night hours (between 7pm-8am) and £16.10 per hour for weekends.
An ideal candidate will have a full UK driving licence (desired but not essential) and will be a non-smoker (essential) due to the child’s condition.
5.6 weeks holiday is awarded per year as standard (pro rata for part time positions). Employees are also able to join the Company Pension scheme after 3 months’ service, subject to the rules of the scheme, as well as our Cash Back Health Plan after completion of a successful probation period.
