ABOUT THE ROLE
I am a fun loving 24-year-old gentleman living at home with my mum, my dog and my cat. I have a severe neurological deficit following a cardiac arrest when I was much younger and require 24/7 support from my family and care team. I have limited mobility and require to be transferred using a hoist. I am visually impaired and non-verbal so my support workers will need to familiarize themselves with my communication techniques. I have all my food and medication administered via PEG. I enjoy going out and being a part of the community. It is very important for me to be able to partake in as many activities which are age appropriate while being care for and supported to a high standard.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will be honest, calm, patient and flexible. They will be outgoing and will support me with meeting my social needs by taking me out to take part in activities. You must bring much enthusiasm to the role and possess excellent communication skills. It is important for me to go out and enjoy myself, as I will be going through a transition process, from being in college throughout the week, to now being home full time.
It is desirable that my PAs are male, because of the nature of the role.
Experience in complex care and Learning Disabilities is desirable.
A full UK driver’s license is desirable, and you must feel comfortable in driving a mobility adapted vehicle if you are a driver.
Non-smokers essential, for my respiratory health.
